Hi friends! Dana Tatar here with you today. I’m constantly misplacing my electronics, especially when I’m working in my studio. My phone and tablet have a way of working themselves under the piles of supplies that I pull out. I’m hoping that these stands will help keep my gadgets both visible and safely out of reach of anything that may be spilled onto them during the artistic process. I’m sharing a simple 3-step reverse resist technique with stencils and PanPastels today that produces fun vivid prints.
Supplies:
Walnut Hollow Natural Bark Edge Tablet Stand
Walnut Hollow Natural Bark Edge Phone Stand
StencilGirl Circle Play Stencil
StencilGirl Travel Note Stencil
PanPastels
Sponges
Watermark Ink
Spray Sealant
Step 1: Place a stencil onto the stand. Press a watermark ink pad over the stencil. Repeat this process on the front and sides of each stand. Note: The lighter circle pattern shown above is the natural wood. The darker areas are covered with watermark ink, which will grab the color in the next step.
Step 2: Use a soft sponge to apply PanPastels over the watermark ink. Note: I used Violet, Turquoise, Bright Yellow Green, Permanent Red, and Permanent Red Tint with the Circle Play Stencil on the Tablet Stand. I used Permanent Red, Permanent Red Ex. Dark, Raw Umber, and Rich Gold with the Travel Notes Stencil on the Phone Stand.
Step 3: Spray the stands with a sealant to permanently set the color.
