DIY Garden Markers

The weather is getting warmer here in central Texas.  It’s the perfect time to start a garden.  I don’t have much of a green thumb, but I’m going to try my best to get a garden started and not let everything completely die.  Sounds exciting to eat something I actually have grown in my very own backyard.

I’ve been looking for garden markers, and I thought it would be a fantastic idea to create my own, using one of my most favorite fonts.  These will also be great as a housewarming gift.  I plan to create a second set to have on hand for a future gift.

You only need a few things to get started.  Here we go:

Step One:  Type and print items you’d like to grow in your garden, using your favorite font.

Step Three:  Cut out the words from your print out as well as the transfer paper.

Step Four:  Place the transfer paper on the wood, your word print out on top of that and just trace.

Step Five:  Heat your wood burner.

Step Six:  Gently trace the words with the wood burner,  slightly burning the wood. Continue to go over the letters 3-4 times until you are happy with the darkness of the words.

Step Seven:  Optional;  Add ribbon and package for gift giving.

I love the way these turned out.  I can’t wait to use them.
