I love to mix rustic decorations with a little bit of metallic shimmer around my home. The beautiful rustic Bark edge boards with their lovely wood grains go so perfectly with a little bit of metallic shine. I’ve been looking for an excuse to use the fun new Walnut Hollow Mountain Range Shape and pairing it with a Bark Edge Board made such a fun shelf. It was easy to add a little shine to such a cute shelf for a lovely rustic glam look!
Here’s what you need to make your own Rustic Frosty Mountain Shelf:
- Walnut Hollow Mountain Range Shape
- Walnut Hollow Bark Edge Board – 5″
- Wood Glue
- Metallic Lustre Wax – White Frost
- Shelf Brackets
Step one:
Use your finger to apply the metallic wax to the tips of the mountains on the Mountain Range Shape. One coat of the wax will leave a soft shimmer. Two will give it a more white shimmery look. I applied two coats of the wax.
Step two:
Rub the metallic wax into the top edge of the mountain range shelf.
Step three:
Glue the Mountain Range Shape to the Edge of the Bark Edge Board. Apply a thin string of wood glue to the bottom edge of the mountain shape and press it against the bark edge board. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Step four:
Install the shelf brackets to the wall. Use a level to ensure they are straight. My shelf brackets are roughly 10 inches apart.
Now you can place your mountain shelf on the brackets and fill it with cute things!
The metallic frost gives just the slightest hint of a white shimmer like snow in the sunlight but it doesn’t take away from the beautiful natural rustic wood grain on the board or the mountain shape.
Where would you put this cute little shelf?

After studying Culinary Arts in Portland Oregon, Kelli went back home to the sunny South West where she decided she wanted to do different kinds of Art. This busy mom of three spends all of her available free time creating in her Craft Shack “she shed” where she can be found burning wood, repurposing old stuff, crafting, and painting just about anything she can get her hands on.
Super fun design Kelli!
