Hand Lettered Home Sign with Free Printable

We just moved into a new home recently, and I’ve been working hard to get all of my decor up! I’m finding a lot of bare walls though.  Luckily, making signs is simple.  Especially with the Walnut Hollow Framed Signs.   I love these little ready to use signs and they take no time at all to customize and make cute for your home.  I took the Pentagon sign, which looks like a home shape to me, and turned it into this cute sign that reflects our family so perfectly.  I’m excited to share the tutorial and a free printable to make it super easy!

Supplies needed:

Home sign supplies

Step one:

Print out your Free “This Home” Printable.  Lay the graphite transfer paper, and your printed quote onto the Pentagon Framed sign.  Tape in place, and trace the lettering using a pen or pencil.

Step two:

Using your Creative Woodburner, burn over the traced lines.  I used the ball point tip on my wood burner for ease in tracing the curved lines of the hand-lettered text.  Use slow and steady pressure and burn all of the lines into the wood.   If you haven’t upgraded to the amazing Creative Woodburner yet, your Creative Versa-Tool would work too!

Step three:

Once all your quote has been burned into the wood, you can add any colors you choose!  You could stain the frame, and the LOVE letters, or you can do what I did, and paint them happy colors!  Whichever style best fits your decor, it’s up to you.

Painting the frame and letters

Allow the paint to dry completely before you attach the hanging hardware of your choice to the back of your new home sign.

Hang your cute new sign up, or display it on a tabletop. I love the little bit of crazy in our loving home!

After studying Culinary Arts in Portland Oregon, Kelli went back home to the sunny South West where she decided she wanted to do different kinds of Art. This busy mom of three spends all of her available free time creating in her Craft Shack “she shed” where she can be found burning wood, repurposing old stuff, crafting, and painting just about anything she can get her hands on.
