DIY Postcard Display Shelves

Do you have a collection of postcards you wish you could have on display? I love collecting new postcards on my travels, but rather than have them sitting in my closet, I wanted to make some shelves I could use to showcase a few of my favorites! So today I’ll be showing you how to create postcard “Shelfies” using Walnut Hollow’s Photo Ledges.

  • 2 Small Photo Ledge Shelves
  • DecoArt Vintage Effect Wash
  • 1″ Foam Brush
  • Paper Towels
  • Vinyl Letter Mask Stencils
  • DecoArt Metallic Lustre
  • Sawtooth Hangers

Step one:

Stain the photo ledges with a coat of vintage effect wash by applying it with the foam brush, and then wiping away any excess paint with a paper towel. Let dry.

Step two:

Arrange your letter masks onto the front of the photo ledge, spacing them out evenly.

Step three:

Use your fingers or a rag to apply silver spark metallic lustre wax over top of the letters.

Step four:

Once dry, peel away the vinyl letters to let the wood show through.

Step five:

Add a sawtooth hanger to the back of your photo ledge to hang it on your wall. Arrange your favorite postcards on the shelves to create your perfect travel shelfie!
